Featherdown is a high fantasy adventure story set on the planet Panaeon. A young boy, Apih, is orphaned when his mother is taken by slavers. He is apprenticed by a Master Wizard, who knows the boy is a Thellite, a race of people born with an innate connection to magic who were hunted to near extinction.
In the small village of Alloria, the boy makes friends with Ibrahim and Melissa, children of his own age from darker heritage. The boy trains in the magical arts, but when his Master betrays him sets out on his own with a group of rogues and misfits called the Expatriates. His friend Ibrahim, honoring an ancestral pact with the Dark Queen, must face the Black Labyrinth in the frozen city of Morages while Ibrahim's sister, Melissa, brashly joins the Optimist Society in the silk-bannered desert city of Hyquon. Their ordeals just beginning, the three must learn to survive in Panaeon as an ancient evil draws nearer, threatening to consume their planet.
